According to a review of meta-analytic findings published in the journal Personality and Social Psychology Review, the trait of agreeableness may be more beneficial than previously believed.

According to co-authors Michael Wilmot and Deniz Ones, agreeableness is not only a desirable trait in the workplace, but it is also associated with overall life success.

The study included more than one million participants from an estimated 3,900 studies.

Based on the findings, agreeableness had a desirable effect on 93 percent of variables and outcomes.

As part of the study, researchers emphasized eight general themes that characterize the functioning of agreeableness across variables, including self-transcendence, contentment, relational investment, teamwork, work investment, lower results emphasis, social norm orientation, and social integration.

The findings were published online on February 28th, 2022.
