According to a report authored by the University of Zurich and published in The Lancet, the World Health Organization has revised their diagnosis of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
The report states that a new condition called complex post-traumatic stress disorder is listed in the WHO’s ICD-11.
“Complex post-traumatic stress disorder (complex PTSD) is a severe mental disorder that emerges in response to traumatic life events,” the study’s authors explained.
“Complex PTSD is characterised by three core post-traumatic symptom clusters, along with chronic and pervasive disturbances in emotion regulation, identity, and relationships.”
