According to a study by University College London, many people believe that they are well informed on the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the UK-funded study, nearly 85 percent of respondents stated they were well knowledgable of COVID-19, while just 5 percent lacked information about the pandemic.

The respondents who self-rated with more knowledge of COVID-19 were likelier to be over the age of 30 and suffer from at least one physical health condition.

The study’s lead author, in a press release, stated: “Knowledge of COVID-19 among the general public is an important factor in combatting the virus. With this in mind, it’s encouraging to see that the majority of people rate their own knowledge of COVID-19 as “good” or “very good.”

The author added, “If people are well-informed about the virus, particularly how it spreads and how dangerous it can be, they are more likely to take the necessary precautions to prevent catching or spreading it themselves.”

The study was funded by the Nuffield Foundation and UK Research and Innovation.
